I recently developed an eye makeup allergy so I’ve had to be really careful about what’s in the products that I put on my face. I quickly realized that a lot of the makeup I’ve been using for years has a bunch of chemicals in it that can be irritating for my skin.
I didn’t really care about clean beauty before, but now I have to pay attention to what’s in the products I buy (or I wake up looking like Rocky after a big fight). Luckily, most of Tarte Cosmetics’ products are on the approved list given to me by my allergist.
So I recently bought a handful of new Tarte products and I’m pretty impressed by how much I like them all. If you’re looking for easy, clean beauty products, you should definitely check these out.
BB Tinted Treatment Primer
I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I didn’t use a face primer before I bought this product. It seemed like a waste of time and an unnecessary step in my makeup routine. But man did this primer change my mind! It goes on like a thick lotion, and gives you an even base under your foundation. It basically hides your pores! If I’m having a no makeup day, I’ll just put a little bit of this on to give myself smoother looking skin. It also has SPF 30 so you don’t have to worry about adding sunscreen on top of your makeup to protect your skin from the sun. I’m wearing shade medium.
Creaseless Concealer
I’d been using Tarte’s famous Shape Tape concealer for awhile and loved it, but it’s not on my approved list so I switched to the Creaseless Concealer. Shape Tape is amazing so I didn’t expect this concealer to be as good. There are a few differences I noticed between the two. Shape Tape is more creamy and heavy, and I used to put on more product. With Creaseless Concealer, it’s brighter, but a little product goes a long way (watch the video below to see how much I put on). Although it feels light on your skin, you can’t put on as much as you’d put on with Shape Tape because you’ll end up looking pretty shiny.
I also used to put Shape Tape on top of my foundation, but with Creaseless Concealer I think it looks better on top of the BB primer, but under my normal foundation. It really has earned its name too. I felt like I would have to pat around my eyes with Shape Tape during the day to keep it from creasing, but I don’t have that issue with the Creaseless Concealer.
I still prefer the creamy texture of Shape Tape, but if you’re looking to brighten the area around your eyes I think the Creaseless Concealer is better. For reference I wear shade light medium sand.
Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
I bought this mascara because it was on a pretty small list of the mascaras I could use without irritating my eyelids. But I was surprised at how much I liked it! It’s a really dark pigment so it makes your lashes stand out. It’s not clumpy and you don’t have to use too much to see the effect.
Maracuja Juicy Lip
I saw fellow blogger Daryl-Ann Denner raving about the Juicy Lips glosses and I had to try them. She described it as a combination of chapstick and lip gloss. It feels a bit more glossy to me. It’s the perfect amount of lip color for days when you don’t want to put on actual lipstick. Sometimes I end up putting Juicy Lips on top of my lipstick to give my lips a little shine. One of the best things is that it smells really good! I got the strawberry shade & am thinking about going back for raspberry and orchid.
